Most of the people in these times are starting to do as much as possible, something related to their fitness and wellness.
Being locked in your home for so much time, lets you think that you wasted a lot of time before not enjoying the freedom to go outside and meet people.
This, in particular, is touching some strings in me. I have all my friends back in Italy.
They are all well, thank God.
But I miss them.
Next week it would have been the Celebration of the Establisment of the Italian Republic. Usually we used to plan a little trip and a pic nic in the woods or a whole day spent on the beach. Typical was to have a meeting to organize who would bring what and the budget to spend for the meat. Among the dishes to prepare for the pic nic, an evergreen was the rice salad filled with all the ingredients possible (each family has its typical one). Guaranteed was the focaccia. Especially the one from my country, Puglia.
Oh, don’t forget the taralli and all the salumi (mortadella, speck, prosciutto, cacciatorino, spicy salami etc.).
But one of the “must have” was to bring the SUPERSANTOS (cheap inflatable basketball)! After eating we always arranged a volleyball match. Obioviously, women Vs men. Obioviously, women would win most of the times.
At the end of the day we were exhausted but so happy. I miss that time and those moments. I can also feel the smell of the air of the early summer in the woods and the sound of our laughter.
I really hope I can get to enjoy their company again soon.
