I am sure that if in Saint Helena’s Island would have been buses, probably Napoleon wouldn’t have had to die there.
Let’s start from the beginning. After the defeat of Waterloo in 18th June 1815, Napoleon had lost all his favour among the allies and was condemned to exile on Saint Helena’s Island in the Atlantic Ocean. He was free to roam the Island but Sir Hudson Lowe and his navy were patrolling the sea to avoid him escaping. On the 5th of May 1821 he died because of a serious stomach issue. The Italian poet Manzoni wrote an ode in his memory, called 5th of May.
Every italian knows it because it is compulsory to memorize it at school.
But circling back to the buses and Napoleon: I thought that if in Island there would have been buses available , Napoleon would have probably reached the opposite site of the Island to catch his last chance to leave the place before the English navy of Sir Hudson Lowe could have caught him.
No, I didn’t do any drugs ( :P) , it’s just my cartoonist way of thinking, where the impossible is possible even if it is unnecessary.
But these helpful buses for Napoleon, would have had to be punctual and fast. Otherwise Hudson would have had all the time to get on the other side of the Island.
Let’s see what Bibi thinks about the punctuality of buses 😀 here we go, the fourth episode of Bibi in UK: an italian abroad! Tap here: https://schiraldiart.com/Bibi%20in%20uk/
